Wandering Star is a British small-press publisher.

Conan miscellanea[]

Before it published the Conan of Cimmeria series for which it is probably best known, Wandering Star published two other titles that each include a Robert E. Howard Conan story.

Conan of Cimmeria: 2003 onwards[]

Wandering Star is publishing new illustrated editions of Robert E. Howard's original Conan stories. It is making an effort both to restore Howard's original manuscripts and to provide a more scholarly and historical view of the Conan stories.

Three volumes are planned, with each being published in limited, "ultra limited", and leatherbound editions:

  1. Conan of Cimmeria: Volume One (1932-1933) (collection) • Robert E. Howard • 2003
  2. Conan of Cimmeria: Volume Two (1934) (collection) • Robert E. Howard • 2004
  3. Conan of Cimmeria: Volume Three (1935-1936) (collection) • Robert E. Howard • forthcoming (December 2009), limited and leatherbound editions

The volumes include Howard's notes on the fictional setting and letters and poems concerning the genesis of his ideas as well as fragments and synopses. Between them, they make all of the original unedited Robert E. Howard stories available to readers for the first time... Well, that accolade actually fell to Del Rey who published the third volume before Wandering Star. The limited edition hardcover is to be published in December 2009 by a partnership of Wandering Star Press and The Book Palace (London).

Del Rey editions[]

These volumes are published in the United States by Del Rey (an imprint of Ballantine Books):

  1. The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian (collection) • Robert E. Howard • 2003 pb & 2005 hc
  2. The Bloody Crown of Conan (collection) • Robert E. Howard • 2005 pb
  3. The Conquering Sword of Conan (collection) • Robert E. Howard • 2005 pb
