Synopsis[]

N'Yaga attempts to tell Ghomli about his suspicions that the albino woman can lead to treasures in her home isle, but Ghomli is more interested in making Belit his unwilling concubine. Outside the village, two of Ghomli's men approach Conan's shallow grave in an attempt to rob the body, but Conan emerges from under the loose pile of dirt with vengeance in his eyes, killing the two before they can raise an alarm. He enters Ghomli's hut as the chieftain attempts to force himself on Belit, and manages to avoid Ghomli's drugged nails. N'Yaga reveals he had administered an herb that made Conan look dead when he examined the barbarian, hoping that he would be carelessly disposed of, and they set fire to Ghomli's hut and rush out to rescue Belit's crew. Ghomli gathers his men and a battle ensues, during which Conan slays Musa the shaman. The crew of the Tigress reaches the ship with the men of the Silver Isle right behind. The Tigress, a hardier ship with a more experienced crew, quickly outpaces Ghomli's, although the albino woman, upon seeing the direction the ship is heading, attempts to jump overboard. Conan calms her down and M'Gora is assigned to watch over her. Eventually, she becomes resigned to leading the crew to her home island and directs them to the southeast. After several days, land is spotted, but Ghomli's ship has managed to catch up. The Tigress loses its pursuer in the icy reefs and makes landfall. Belit and the crew make their way into the thick fog which soon parts to reveal a high mountain. Tekeli, having learned enough language to communicate, tells them of the caverns at the top of the hill where her people live, but she fears going. Belit insists, and after a trek of the mountains and into a cave mouth, the group is surrounded by an overwhelming native force. Conan, knowing fighting is useless, drops his sword...
