Aztrias Petanius was a nephew of the governor of Numalia, a foppish young nobleman given to revels and gambling. One night he was in a low tavern when he heard Conan boasting of a daring theft. Seeing an opportunity, he enlisted Conan to steal a valuable object from Kallian Publico's Temple.
During the events of "The God in the Bowl," Petanius is apprehended by the guards investigating Publico's murder. To disguise his guilt, he claims to have never seen Conan before, and instructs the guards to take him away. As a prominant noble, his word is believed, but Conan is enraged, and immediately slays his trecharous employer.
